Saturns RETROGRADE returns to Pisces.
Welllllllll here we are again.. the feeling of …. didn’t I just freaking go through this?!! Thats a retrograde for you.
Saturn moves from 0 degrees of Aries back into Pisces until November 2025 during this transit. Saturn, the planet of responsibility, karmic influence, and discipline, had touched 0 Aries, a true creation point. Aries initiates. Pisces reflects and lets go so the cycle can begin again. During this transit we are meant to see what needs tending and clearing. This is responsibility, courtesy of Saturn. Unfinished business may surface, including projects, tasks, commitments and work agreements that ask to be completed, even if they were put off or forgotten..
As we enter September, you may notice things circling back, things that require you to tend to them, things that cannot be put off any longer. Saturn always asks for responsibility and showing up for what needs work and devotion. Saturn was last in Pisces in May this year, so you may find a connection with what you boxed up and put on a shelf back then, beginning to open again. Saturn nudges us along a sometimes uncomfortable timeline and at an uncomfortable speed in the name of karmic healing and spiritual growth. Think of it as the hero’s journey, the universal story structure where someone leaves home, faces trials, gains wisdom or a gift, and returns transformed. You know, like the Harry Potter, Moana, Simba in The Lion King, Neo in The Matrix, Frodo in The Lord of the Rings, they all go to pilgrimage and journey and along the way learn discipline, responsibility, and trust in order to grow and return back as a wiser, stronger, version of themselves - that boy to man journey. That is what Saturn asks of us. It pushes us into the hero’s journey - “I require you to grow here”
When Saturn moved into Aries in May you may have felt a fresh start, a build from the ground up, a new you. Saturns retrograde now presses the rewind button and says, I am not skipping steps, I am not glossing over anything. I want to make sure no stone was left unturned before you begin again. It wants you to be responsible for your endings before you embark on a new beginning. Think of the relationship you did not fully end and let fizzle, or the work commitment that did not work out and was left by the wayside. Those moments where you thought “phew, got away with that one” when you know you didn’t handle it your best – the mentality of shoving things in an already full closet and managing to somehow shut the door “out of sight out of mind.. until next time” Those half – assed endings are Saturn’s least favourite. So he retrogrades like a robotic floor vacuum, checking for crumbs you didn’t sweep up. Pushing you to take responsibility – have the discipline to clean up properly. Don’t leave crumbs.
Saturn and Pisces can feel like opposites because well .. they are! yet when in harmony and co-creation with each other they bring a grounded steadiness Saturn offers structure to the overwhelm or uncertainty that can accompany Pisces and creates a practical way forward. Use this energy to tie up loose ends, bring practicality to thoughts and feelings, approach things with structure, and set yourself a simple timeline.
Saturn in Pisces, which I have written about more fully here, carries a strong spiritual healing tone. You may have picked up a practice that nourished you spiritually, emotionally, or physically then let it slide. It’s easy to pick up a practice when we’re at our lowest point, when we’re desperate to feel better. But the real magic happens when we keep showing up after the crisis has passed when we let it keep elevating us. Not from a place of despair or dismantling, but from a place of “I feel good, I deserve to grow, and I want to keep going.” Otherwise, we stay stuck in a cycle of constant rebuilding instead of rising into steady, sustained levity. As Saturn returns to Pisces on the way back to 0 Aries, it reminds you that these practices support the new creation you will be calling in. Can you add structure, even gentle discipline, so they remain consistent in your daily life, especially through Virgo season? Therapy, meditation, astrology check ins, self-development work, EMDR tapping, whatever supported you. Saturn’s retrograde asks you to revisit, reassess, and restructure them.
