3 day AYURVEDIC cleanse.
We can have weeks where we feel on top of our food game, preparing each and every meal mindfully. And then, there are weeks when we find ourselves eating out more than usual, having one too many coffees or wines, or just eating things we wouldn’t normally choose. This can leave us feeling a little out of body.
This gentle cleanse is designed to support your body and give it a break from excess food or hard-to-digest meals. By minimising variety and complexity for the duration of the cleanse, the body is able to rest, regenerate, and repair itself. This three-day break is filled with grounding, light, easy-to-digest foods, cooked with plenty of herbs and spices to help draw out and eliminate toxins, bringing the body back to its natural balance.
What we eat can weigh heavily not just on the body, but also on the mind and soul. When we eat in a way that isn’t aligned with who we are, it can cloud our energy and leave our personal channel feeling groggy or foggy. In just three days, you may notice increased energy, improved clarity, better digestion and elimination, and reduced cravings. This is a welcomed reset for your taste buds and appetite, helping you distinguish between impulsive cravings and true hunger. These abundant meals will leave you feeling nourished, satisfied, clean, and clear.
Beyond the physical benefits, there’s also an inner strength that begins to surface when we practice this kind of discipline with food. Choosing simplicity and nourishment over impulse can quietly rebuild trust in ourselves. That steady, grounded confidence, born not from restriction, but from intentional care—can ripple out into all areas of life.
Each recipe is made using one-pot cooking, which means less clean-up for you. They require minimal ingredients and just a little love from your spice drawer.
Breakfast – Sautéed Spiced Apples
This is a classic Ayurvedic breakfast. If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ll know I love food combining, and food combining stems directly from Ayurvedic medicine. So it only makes sense that this cleanse begins with fruit first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, for optimal digestion.
Starting the day with sautéed apples gently awakens the digestive system, supports regular bowel movements, and helps build a strong appetite for lunch. It’s a nourishing way to increase vitality and mental clarity without the sluggishness that can follow a heavy breakfast.
Plus, it smells amazing while cooking!
Ingredients
1–2 apples
1 tbsp coconut oil
Ground cinnamon, to taste
Method
Dice apple into bite size pieces.
Warm the coconut oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Add the apples and sauté until tender, about 5 + minutes.
Halfway through cooking, sprinkle in the cinnamon and stir to coat the apples evenly.
Lunch & Dinner- Kitchari
Kitchari is a foundational healing food in Ayurveda.
It’s renowned for its balancing and restorative qualities. Traditionally, Kitchari is believed to harmonize the doshas, support the tissues, detoxify the body, and purify the digestive system.
Because it’s so easy to digest while still being nutrient-dense, eating Kitchari gives the digestive system a much-needed rest. In India, it’s often the very first food offered to babies, and it’s commonly used to nourish the elderly or those recovering from illness. Its simplicity is what makes it so powerful.
Have this for Lunch and Dinner!
Ingredients
Seasonal vegetables of choice (I like zucchini, carrot, cauliflower and kale)
1 cup mung dal
1 cup basmati rice
2 tbsp coconut oil
6 cups water
Spices
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp fennel seeds
tsp fennel seeds
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp coriander seeds
1 tsp ground cardamom
1 tsp black pepper
1 bay leaf
Method
Rinse and chop your vegetables.
Measure out all spices, mix them together in a small bowl, and set aside.
Rinse the mung dal and rice in a strainer under cold water until the water runs clear.
In a large pot, heat the coconut oil over medium heat. Add the mixed spices and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Stay close—spices can burn quickly.
Stir in the mung dal and rice, coating them well in the spice mixture.
Add the water and chopped vegetables. Stir well and bring everything to a boil.
Reduce heat to a simmer, cover the pot with a lid, and cook for around 40 minutes, or until the dal and rice are soft and have a porridge-like consistency.
